Trail Overview

Peterson Road is a fantastic two-lane gravel dirt road that winds through amazing views of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Along the route, there are a couple of turnouts and hiking trails that spur off this road. There is also campground access off of this road as well as Lasso Road. Cell service is decent but offline maps would be a good safety precaution. This route winds through the woods until you see open areas of dune grass before reaching a medium-sized parking lot to access the beach of Lake Michigan. This provides some of the best views of the dunes. This is a must-see route just off of historic M-22.
