Trail Overview
Power in the Pines is a fantastic trail to experience some of the best scenery the Manistee National Forest has to offer. Both entrances for the trail are to the North. There's an entrance off 72nd St and West 76th St. Although the trail is mostly sandy there are spots that have more dirt. Along the trail, you will see open clear cuts for logging as well as thick dense forest. There are a few hill climbs that can have very loose sand. Halfway through the trail, there is a sandy climb that has a large tree root at the peak of the hill. You will be going up it if entered off 72nd St. There are small mud holes that will fill up with enough rainfall. Nothing more than 6 inches deep. On the West 76th St side of the trail, you will be driving through a stretch of loose sand for the power line right of way. 4WD would be recommended for this trail due to the loose sand and climbs.
