Trail Overview
The Golden Trout Lakes is a short trail that starts at the Upper Portal Trailhead at a big dirt parking lot. It goes south through the dense forest on a wide dirt path with lots of small roots across the trail. It has small embedded rocks, tight curves through the forest, tight hairpin turns, and constant rocky sections. There aren't any big ledges; you just have to ride over large embedded rocks for a lot of it. They aren't too hard, it's just jarring and tiring. It helps to be experienced standing through the rocks. You'll likely see hikers on this trail, so please be respectful of other trail users. This trail is open to motorcycles 7/16 - 9/4.
