Trail Overview
This is a scenic drive down the west side of Hungry Horse Reservoir. There are plenty of developed and primitive camping spots, and lake access points everywhere. The road is maintained, and paved for the first 12 miles, but potholes are still abundant. Drive the distance, and you'll end up in Spotted Bear, where you can fish the South Fork River and camp at Spotted Bear Campground. Hiking options are endless, as well as several access points to the Jewel Basin. The road closes during winter at the parking lot just past the dam, but is accessible for snowmobiling and skiing during the winter months.
