Trail Overview
An easy graded out and back. The trail begins at a nice campground and follows the Slate Creek for a while before it turns uphill to climb to amazing views overlooking The Painted Rocks Lake and amazing vistas in the mountains and Painted Rocks, which the area is named after. If the light is right, they come alive with color! A few old logging trail offshoots are now closed and make for dispersed camping spots right along the road. The road is narrow and has pullouts for passing, which may be impassable in winter. Watch for downed trees and rockslides. No cell service.
