Trail Overview
Hunter Lake Trail is a two-way trail. You can start at the end of Blue Truck Trail on Hunter Lake Rd or enter from Garson Road off of I-80. It will take you up to just over 8,500 passing through pine trees and past meadows. There are some quite narrow spots on the eastern end of the trail so be prepared for a few brush scratches. There are some sections of rock and washouts where depending on your vehicle's flex you may lift tires as well as a decently long but not deep water crossing with large rocks. This can be tricky as the rocks get slick and can make it difficult for vehicles with smaller tires to stay on their line. There are plenty of spots to stop and take a break and enjoy the views. This trail is maintained by volunteers from Hills Angles, so help out and keep it clean.
