Trail Overview
The Nevada Telephone Cove Road is inside the Lake Mead National Recreation Area boundary and starts just off State Route 163 a few miles outside of Laughlin, Nevada. This is a well-trafficked and reasonably maintained double-wide dirt road winding through the Mohave desert hillside leading to Telephone Cove. Views of Lake Mead in the distance can be seen at a few bends in the road. The trail ends at the water's edge where swimming, camping, and launching a boat are all possible. The boat launch area is all dirt. The trail is easy and not technical. It is washboarded and has break bumps on corners and downhill sections due to all of the traffic. There are a couple of intersecting trails that are more interesting single-wide 4x4 trails. There is no cell service at the end of the trail, so download an offline map before heading out. It's super hot out there in the summer but late fall, winter, and early spring is amazing.
