Trail Overview
Opal Mountain Road drives through the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. This area is a limited-use area, and camping is only allowed in approved areas. Offroad use is not allowed unless on a designated route. This road is an easy road mixed with sand, gravel, and loose rock. Some sections have deep sandy washes and messy mud during the rainy seasons. Advised not to do this road in bad weather, as you can find yourself in a flash flood. The end offers a beautiful view of the water and stunning Nevada rolling land. If you like adventure, there are a couple of old mines in the area, be aware they are unsafe, please do not enter them, only enjoy them from a distance.
