Trail Overview

Rainbow Pass Road is a 4.7-mile point-to-point trail rated 2 of 10 located in Lincoln County, Nevada. Rainbow Pass Road is located on the extreme western end of the Tule Desert, a subsection of the eastern Mojave Desert that runs along the Utah state border. The road is suitable for any form of transport and is generally maintained by the Nevada Department of Transportation. The trail acts as an east/west connector between Old Highway 91 and Carp Road. As the name implies, the road crosses over a gap along the Rainbow Ridge which makes up the eastern boundary of Long Valley. Exiting the gap on the west end brings views of a fertile valley and the once well-known Jensen Ranch. Rainbow Pass Road's western end is located at Lyman Crossing. In 1903, the Salt Lake, San Pedro, and Los Angeles Railroad was built through Long Valley and Rainbow Canyon located 10 miles north of the intersection with Lyman Crossing (north on Carp Road). Cell phone service is intermittent. The nearest services are in Bunkerville or Mesquite along Interstate 15.
