Trail Overview

This is a ridgeline trail in the Nelson OHV Area similar to the many other trails in the area, except that this one is a lot rockier, as it is troughed and full of loose rocks on the climbs. This makes it really hard to get traction on some of the climbs; combined with some embedded rock faces and small ledges, it makes it a harder difficulty. It's tricky on the downhills not to get pinged around from all the loose chunks of rock. It's 1.5 miles long but is constantly going up and over the desert hills, with frequent climbs and descents that can be pretty steep. It also dips in and out of ravine crossings several times.

Access Description

Nelson Hills is an OHV area south of Boulder City, Nevada. Take NV-165 E from US-95 S and turn onto BLM Route C towards the Nelson Hills OHV Staging Area. There's a huge dirt parking area for staging as well as dry camping. The area is full of tons of ATV and dirt bike trails through these desert hills, but the trails aren't marked. It's often like a maze of trails with endless options to explore, including steep hill climbs, washes and ravines.
