Trail Overview
Elk Pasture is a loop trail that connects to SR35 in the Sapillo Creek region and provides great views of the surrounding area and mountains in the distance. The road is primarily single-vehicle-wide, with a few areas providing enough room to pass, and is a combination of dirt and rocks. While there are no large obstacles over 10 inches in size, there are several steeper hills with grades over 12%, with most of them being loose rocky surfaces. There are also several short, yet tall crests along the trail that some longer wheelbase vehicles may have difficulty traversing over. Dispersed camping is permitted along the trail except for the first 1.5 miles from the start at the north entrance and the first 0.75 miles from the south entrance. There is weak to moderate cell service along the length of the trail with a few sections having no service. Be aware of private land if entering from the south entrance and maintain a lower speed.

Difficulty
Drivers will encounter tall crests, steep grade climbs, and some rutting. There are no large obstacles along the route and it should be completed by most AWD and 4WD vehicles. Longer-wheelbase vehicles should approach the taller crests with caution to avoid high-centering.
