Trail Overview
Horse Pasture begins on a small section of private land right off CR137/Queens Highway in the town of Queen, NM. This out-and-back trail will be easily completed by 4x4 vehicles and most AWD vehicles with good clearance. The surface is a combination of rock and some areas of softer dirt with minor rutting. Rock gardens can be found throughout the trail as well as loose rocks and gravel but no obstacles larger than 10 inches. The trail is mostly single-vehicle width with room to pass and a few areas being slightly wider. There are several dispersed camping areas becoming more limited towards the end where desert foliage becomes more dense. Views are limited at the start of the trail and become more open towards the end. There are several hiking and motorized spurs along the trail with several being noted and labeled on FS signs. Cell service is primarily strong with a few small sections dropping service completely.
