Trail Overview
This northern section of North Star connects from Chloride Canyon to SR163 at O-Bar-O Ranch. Those looking for easy access to North Star going south towards the Sapillo area or Silver City can take SR163 to this section and skip most of the harder routes in the area. While the northern section of North Star will be passenger car suitable, North Star south of Chloride Canyon will require more ground clearance. The surface is primarily dirt and very well-maintained with no obstacles. There are spots with some very minor ruts and washboarding, but nothing that most 2WD vehicles wouldn't be able to handle. There is no dispersed camping along this track, but there are plenty of areas to enjoy exploring for a day--just take note of the private land in the area. Views are vast and give a glimpse at the surrounding mountains as well as the local hills and some small cliffs. Visitors can also find the Beaverhead Ranger Station where North Star intersects Chloride Canyon/SR59.
