Trail Overview

Starting on the north side the trail has breathtaking views in the National Forest. As the service road progresses, it changes from a service road to sharp gravel and jagged rocks. It then transitions to rough terrain with spectacular views--definitely a road less traveled. It's definitely not a trail for a beginner off-roader or intermediate. The best way to describe this route is, "the best views come from the hardest climbs."

Difficulty

This trail is very rocky and difficult to navigate without proper navigation tools. 4x4 and understanding of being off-camber are recommended.

35.5709, -105.47321 was gated. Getting to here was easy enough for my H2 Hummer, although many times in 4wheel low lock and drive 1 lowest gear. No issues of high rock it couldn’t get over, just don’t bounce suspension. Lots of trail maintenance going on with gates locked. I wouldn’t suggest going past forest camp in valley without 4x4.
