Trail Overview
Wildhorse is found directly off the Guadalupe Rim Road and runs east. There are a few motorized and hiking spurs off the main trail that are not labeled. The trail has a limited number of areas that would be ideal for dispersed camping due to the heavy brush and makeup of the terrain. The route is primarily a rocky surface with a few rock gardens toward the end with obstacles roughly 10" to 12". 4x4 vehicles will have no problems completing the trail and may also be completed by AWD vehicles with appropriate ground clearance. The trail is mostly single-vehicle wide with room to pass, but there are areas where brush and foliage narrow the track with no passing room. Cell service is weak throughout the trail with several areas having no service. Views are limited for the first portion of the route becoming more wide open towards the end. The trail ends at a loop on top of a low elevation ridge line overlooking the canyon below.
