Trail Overview

This route is a seasonal road that begins with some rough gravel and then turns into a two-track road. Starting at Telephone Road will take you into the forest and then a gentle descent into the valley. The trail can also be accessed from Taylor Valley Road. The trail crosses several small streams, runs along a pond, and then works its way down to the valley. The views of the valley are breathtaking.

Difficulty

The trail is mostly a two-track with no significant obstacles or ruts. The drive is an easy off-pavement ride that is very scenic and makes you feel like you are miles away from civilization.

Access Description

Taylor Valley State Forest may be accessed by taking NY Route 41 toward Solon and turning onto Telephone Road. Turn left onto Kiwanis Road, and another immediate left onto the Mount Roderick Public Forest Access Road to access the western portion of the forest. Continue down Telephone Road to Hawley Woods Road, and then finally turn left onto Taylor Valley Road to access the eastern portion of the forest.
