Trail Overview
This road within the Pocosin National Wildlife Refuge area starts very similar to other roads driving through farmland, with rivers, but eventually switches into a wetter forest road. The first half of the road is well-kept, and very easy to drive on, however, the second half of the road can get a little wet, and has a few potholes. Just about any car can go over them though it may come as a surprise and cause some mud to be thrown. There were also a few trees that had recently fallen so be on the lookout for more like that. There are many chances to see wildlife ranging from butterflies, bears, deer, and small potential for alligators, birding is also very popular in the area, and depending on the season can dictate what birds you see. It should be mentioned this is a wildlife refuge so be careful on trails, and only licensed vehicles are permitted within the refuge.
