Trail Overview

Head back in time as you travel through the abandoned town of San Toy. You will start by driving down a gravel road that will take you past old foundations to buildings that once stood there during coal mining times. After traveling down the gravel road, you will come across a covered bridge. You'll drive through the bridge and come out to a flagpole in the middle of the road with the old jailhouse off to the right. As you go down the narrow trail past the jailhouse, you will come upon many rutted mud holes. You will finish the trail off by having to turn around before hitting deeper mud holes and turning into private property.

The trail is easy for the most part but there are some very deep ruts and at the end, the trail would be rated a 10 due to the bottomless pits.

Fun little drive. Nice covered bridge to start the route. Some mud puddles along the way that you get to drive through twice as the road ends in the woods. It did look like you could continue down a more difficult part of the trail but it is listed as private property and I wouldn't recommend it.

Beautiful, wooded windy Road, gravel, fairly easy to drive.

I was sleeping on this trail till the very last hook. Out of 6 mud holes I got stuck in 5. trail dead ends unless you are on a UTV etc etc. got to the end and had to turn around and got stuck in a 5 foot mud pit. that coated my tires forsaking me to get stuck in every pit on the way out. very tight “bypasses” to some of the mud holes. I have a 15 JKU with 35s and 3.5 inch lift. pulled line for about an hour or two just trying to get back out. mud pits don’t look deep but all the surrounding surface is also mud.

Sunny day in the high 60’s. Great day for driving this trail. Leaves are just starting to turn color. The trail was mostly dry with some places holding water and mud. There was a downed tree near the end of the trail where the deepest and most challenging mud pits are. I walked past the tree to see what lay beyond. There are also many side trails that looked interesting that aren’t represented on the map. If I wasn’t alone I would’ve explored them. But they were narrow and I wasn’t sure if there was an easy turn around or if I’d need to back out once I got in a ways.
