Trail Overview
This trail is easy and short. It is the closest and most easily accessible fire lookout from the town of Burns. The trail is dirt, with no difficult obstacles beyond some very deep ruts and water drainage ruts. There are large rocks at the top loop but are easily avoided. The only weather that makes the trail unusable is a significant amount of snow or rain. This trail has reliable cell service and is an out and back route. The fire lookout is abandoned, and the roof of the structure is on the ground about 100 feet north of the tower. There is a tag which says the structure is structurally sound but the cab is not. It used to be fenced off however people have cut through the chain link. There is an expansive view of Pine Springs Basin and there are many interesting cliffs and old growth Ponderosa pines in the area.
