Trail Overview
The Francis Marion National Forest is located north of Charleston, South Carolina. It is named for Revolutionary War hero Francis Marion, who was known to the British as the Swamp Fox. It lies entirely within the Middle Atlantic coastal forests ecoregion. The park is also entirely in a subtropical coniferous forest. This route is located in the southern section of Francis Marion National Forest and is a dirt-packed trail with gravel sections when on the dikes around the swamp. This route has two spurs and offers access to the northern section of Francis Marion National Forest and numerous other mapped routes.
