Trail Overview
Bonneau Ferry Wildlife Management Area covers over 10,000 acres of pine savannahs, bottomland hardwoods, wildlife openings, wetlands, and reservoirs. Recreational opportunities range from hunting and fishing to bird watching, hiking, and viewing the area's rich cultural attributes, such as the ruins of the Comingtee Plantation House and Rice Mill. Bonneau Ferry WMA has four lakes open to non-motorized boating and fishing. Bonneau Ferry may temporarily close for special hunts that can be found online on the SC DNR website. Make sure to double-check that the property is open before visiting. All impoundments are closed from November 1 - February 8th each year for the waterfowl season. This trail begins just inside the main gate and creates a loop on side 'A' of the property; both beginning and ending on Bonneau Ferry Drive (the main road of the property). This loop primarily keeps to the west side of the property in the bottomland hardwood forests. There are ample opportunities to stop and fish the small ponds and spot wildlife in the fields of the quick loop following the perimeter of side 'A'. ATVs are not permitted on the roads on the property at this time.
