Trail Overview
The Francis Marion National Forest is located north of Charleston, South Carolina. It is named for Revolutionary War hero Francis Marion, known to the British as the Swamp Fox. It lies entirely within the Middle Atlantic coastal forests ecoregion. The park is also entirely in a subtropical coniferous forest. This route follows through some of the large open fields in Francis Marion National Forest that offer great opportunities for wildlife watching. This route is a hard-packed gravel road that has little to no obstacles.
