Trail Overview
The Francis Marion National Forest is located north of Charleston, South Carolina. It is named for Revolutionary War hero Francis Marion, known to the British as the Swamp Fox. It lies entirely within the Middle Atlantic coastal forests ecoregion. The park is also entirely in a subtropical coniferous forest. This route is a shortcut back to one of the main access roads that runs through the National Forest. This route is a rough muddy trail; about halfway through the trail is a deep rut that requires high clearance to pass.
