Trail Overview

Victoria 14 is a 4-mile-long single track through the Black Hills. The south end starts on Victoria Lake Road and starts by steeply climbing up from the road with some sharper turns. It climbs up into the pine trees, meanders through the forest, then descends back down to another road crossing with Victoria Lake Road through a bunch of small aspens that are really pretty in fall when changing colors. Going north from Victoria Lake Road, it has lots of small rocks on the surface of the trail. It side-hills up the mountainside, with some steep switchbacks up. It traverses the mountain tops, on a trail with many cut logs, ruts sticks, and roots. It winds through the sparse pine trees, curvy with lots of tight turns. It goes over the rolling hills, constantly climbing up and then descending back down, often on steep slopes with lots of small rocks in the trail. There are some bigger embedded rock layers in the trail too, creating small uneven rock ledges up to a foot tall. You go through more aspen trees on the north end as you go through sharp hairpin turns. There's a final steep climb with embedded rocks on the north end as well before the trail ends on a dirt forest service road.

Difficulty

This is an intermediate trail as it has lots of steep climbs and descents that are full of loose rocks, and small ledges up to a foot tall. Although the trail has lots of easy flowy sections as well, it does have small logs down and sharp switchbacks that add to the difficulty. It will be a fun and moderate ride for average riders.
