Trail Overview
This is the Main Road, used to access many trailheads, campsites, and the only bathrooms in this area of Lake Meredith National Recreation Area (on this westerly side.) The first half is sandy, and the second half is packed clay. The road is easily traversed in any 4x4, and most any 2WD in dry conditions. There are literally hundreds of primitive campsites along the road. Cell reception is carrier dependent and spotty. Any precipitation can quickly and severely degrade road conditions, especially on the packed clay portion, so be sure and check weather forecasts. The road ends at a beautiful bend in the river where there is a water crossing or some serious rock obstacles.
