Trail Overview
Trail 843 starts at the intersection with Trail 845 as a wide sandy wash. The wash narrows as you go north, and has lots of rock slabs within the wash, but no difficult obstacles. The trail marker at the entrance of 843 indicates that the trail is rated as Most Difficult, but this is most likely referring to the VJ trail which starts after a mile of trail 843. This trail ends and the VJ trail starts when there is a stack of cairns on the hill above the wash on the left (when going north) and the trail climbs out of the wash. Use this trail to make a day loop in this trail system with 5 Miles of Hell, and the Red and Orange Trails. The views here are fantastic near Temple Mountain, and spring and fall are the best times to visit to avoid the heat.
