Trail Overview
Link 5 is a quick connector trail that is an easy way to connect from the west side of the loop (Salt Wash Trail) to the east side of the loop (Sovereign Trail) and vice versa. You'll see signs for Link 5 while riding towards it on segments of the Salt Wash Trail, indicating you are close to the link. There are several links between the two sides of the loop labeled as Link 1-5, and they can help break your ride up into shorter segments because both Salt Wash and Sovereign have very difficult spots that you may want to cut out of. Link 5 is especially easy and can be ridden in just a couple of minutes. It goes through an easy desert terrain with a mix of slab and dirt, with no big obstacles. Most of the hard parts of the Sovereign/Salt Wash Loop are south of Link 5 (on either end), so this can be a good way to avoid the southern part of the loop if necessary.
