Trail Overview
This 6-mile trail connects the Papa Bear Poker Run 2021 Trail on the south with the Paiute ATV Trail Dry Creek Monroe Mountains Loop Trail on the north in the Fishlake National Forest. You cross Box Creek, go by the Upper Box Creek Trailhead, and go by the Upper Box Creek Reservoir. If you have a fishing license, this reservoir is a good place to fish. In early June this trail was snow-free. Some run-off made it muddy in a couple of places, but nothing bad. As you move north of the reservoir, you break out on top with fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. In an area where so many trails are limited to 50" vehicles, this is a full-width trail that grants access to the northern area of the Sevier Plateau. There are great places to camp up here. You can stay 16 days without moving. There is wildlife to view, wide open areas to hike and backpack, and trails to ride and explore. In February of 2023, Utah began enforcement of a new law, which requires an online education course for all off-roaders. The free course is available online. Google "Utah OHV Education Course," and the free test will pop up. It's an easy test that will only take 15-30 minutes, and it's required for all off-roaders, Jeeps, SXSs, dirt bikes, and ATVs. Kids under the age of 18 will have to take the Youth Education Test at the same site. After completing the test, print out the certificate to carry with you which shows you completed the course. We have taken it, and it's really no big deal. Good reminders about trail etiquette and trail preservation.
