Trail Overview
This is one of our favorite trails in the Fishlake National Forest area. The trail's highlights are a canyon that you drop into with rock walls and crossing a creek three times. The trail tracks alongside a hill from east to west, and it is a bit off-camber in a few places. The off-camber sections are short and relatively easy to cross. The trail is a mix of dirt and rock, and there are some areas where the monsoon rains have caused erosion. Once you drop into the canyon, the "cool factor" of the trail goes way up! There is evidence that bats call the canyon home, and the rock walls make excellent hiding places for them. As you continue to move W/NW, you come a creek that the trail crosses three times. On the other side of the creek is a steep incline with loose rocks, but it's not a challenging climb. The potential to see wildlife and cattle grazing here in the summertime is good.

Difficulty
Too early in the springtime, or after monsoon rains, the water crossings will be deep and fast moving. In late August, when we rode it, the monsoons had been present, and the water was 15"-20" deep in the deepest part of the creek. The steep rocky hill climb isn't hard, but it adds to the rating of a 4.
