Trail Overview
This challenging out and back passes by Pilot peak as the trail crosses the saddle. There are great views across the canyon from the saddle (it's where the cattle guard is). Once fully descended on the backside, the trail ends at a large turnaround point with a nice fire ring. The old remainder of the trail has been closed for revegetation, so please turn around here. There is no cell service on the backside and two bars of LTE on the front. The trail is moderately challenging with long loose rocky sections, several smaller shelves, and some very off-camber washout sections.
