Pine Creek Road FS 30153 is a 10.4-mile point-to-point trail located in Garfield County within the Escalante Ranger District of the Dixie National Forest. The trailhead starts just after the cattle guard about 3.3 miles from Highway 12 in Escalante. Pine Creek Road is probably one of the most used access roads leading into the National Forest. It is a full two-lane improved dirt road maintained by both the county and Forest Service. Pine Creek Road provides access to the western end of Hell's Backbone trail. Several hiking trails in the Box-Death Wilderness area are located along Pine Creek Road. You can expect to lose cell phone service within a couple of miles from Escalante, which is also the closest place for any service you might need.
