The trek is incredibly rocky through ponderosa and lodgepole pines, but the relatively high elevation will provide some spectacular views. The rocky ground may make finding a suitable campsite a challenge, but it may be worth the effort for stargazers.

Difficulty
Overall, the trail is incredibly rocky, but less so on the west side. The east side has a very steep incline with large rocks and a little twist of the trail all at the same time, which offers a challenge. You may require lockers or some form of traction control such as crawl control or A-Trac.
