Trail Overview
Pole Canyon Road gives you access from Highway 62 up to the Paiute Trail System and Papa Bear Poker Run 2021 Trail. You gain over 2000 feet in elevation and rise up through a gentle, beautiful canyon. The creek in early June was running pretty low, so most of the runoff in this area had already happened. It's a good dirt road, but in some places, there isn't room to meet another vehicle. You move, from the top down, from the sagebrush, Aspens, and sunflowers, down through the dark timber of the pines, between some beautiful rock cliffs, back into the sagebrush, and to the valley floor. You intersect with Hwy 62 just north of the Otter Creek Reservoir. In February of 2023, Utah began enforcement of a new law, which requires an online education course for all off-roaders. The free course is available online. Google "Utah OHV Education Course," and the free test will pop up. It's an easy test that will only take 15-30 minutes, and it's required for all off-roaders, Jeeps, SXSs, dirt bikes, and ATVs. Kids under the age of 18 will have to take the Youth Education Test at the same site. After completing the test, print out the certificate to carry with you which shows you completed the course. We have taken it, and it's really no big deal. Good reminders about trail etiquette and trail preservation.
