Trail Overview
This trail in the Red Cliffs Recreation Area takes you northeast off of Red Cliffs Rec Area to Virgin River Trail to an overlook of some of the canyons in this area that aren't visible from any other location we've been to. The trail accommodated our 72" CanAm, but it is narrow in places with a steep drop to the bottom of the canyon. The views are spectacular in every direction. There is room to turn around at the end of the trail, and there's room for a few cars to park there at the same time. Combine this short little trail with other featured trails in the Red Cliffs Recreation Area, and you will have a full day of fun. Desert Tortoises are common in this area, so be sure to watch for them. If you see one, it's a good idea to report it. The surface is primarily sand, but there are rocks in the trail to maneuver over. There is nothing challenging as long as the driver is paying attention to the edge. Other trails in this beautiful part of Southern Utah include Red Cliffs Rec Area to Virgin River Trail, Backdoor to Babylon Trail, Backdoor to Babylon Loop, Backdoor to Babylon Wash, and many others that are not yet named. In this area, you can also hike to Sand Cove, the Old Toquerville Mine, Sandstone Mountain, and to the Arch. Starting Feb 2023, Utah began enforcement of its new law, which requires an online education course for all off-roaders. The free course is available online. Google "Utah OHV Education Course," and the free test will pop up. It's an easy test that will only take 15-30 minutes, and it's required for all off-roaders, Jeeps, SXSs, dirt bikes, and ATVs. Kids under the age of 18 will have to take the Youth Education Test at the same site. After completing the test, print out the certificate to carry with you which shows you completed the course. We have taken it, and it's really no big deal. Good reminders about trail etiquette and trail preservation.

Difficulty
A mix of sand and rock make up this trail. There is a steep drop into the canyon off one side, but it's wide enough for our 72" CanAm.
