Trail Overview
Rose Canyon is a 7.5-mile point-to-point trail that rises from Pine Valley into the Wah Wah Mountains and is rated 3 of 10. This road starts out as an improved two-track up to the last private ranch. After the trail narrows and becomes sandy with embedded rocks. The trail has an elevation gain of 1400 feet topping out at an elevation of 7550 feet. The last quarter mile descends to Willow Creek Road which is the main route through the Wah Wah Mountains. Besides the beauty of the Wah Wah Mountains, there are several opportunities to view some of the more unique features of western Utah. Located in the Lamerdorf Canyon are a set of large kilns (See Lamerdorf Trail for the route). The Wah Wah Mountains are also known for hiking as well as rock climbing opportunities. This is one of the most remote areas of western Utah with no services at all. The nearest service is 50-plus miles away in Milford. This area is above 6000' and is subject to severe weather and may be closed during the winter months.
