Trail Overview
Sit Down Bench Trail BLM 320 is a 17.7-mile point-to-point connector trail within the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Sit Down Bench connects the Smoky Mountain Road with the south end of Croton Road, creating a loop within the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Sit Down Bench is a single-track trail consisting of hard-pack dirt and crushed rock. The trail is not maintained by the parks service. A high-clearance vehicle is recommended due to the potential for difficult crossing of the various washes along the road. Signs posted at either entrance warn "impassable when wet" and the BLM is serious. Avoid this route the day of and the day after heavy rains. The area where the road is located is remote and completely undeveloped. There are no services anywhere along the route. Cell phone coverage is limited or non-existent throughout the area and the nearest services are located in Big Water.
