Trail Overview

The Big Drop is a 4-mile segment of the Enduro Loop and contains one of the harder obstacles on the entire Enduro Loop. The east entrance is off Dubinky Well Road. It starts easy through a flat desert of sagebrush and wash crossings. It's fast, with a lot of whoops, sand, and flat slick rock. Then it starts to get more technical with some small rock ledges going downhill, and a series of several-foot-tall ledges in a row. It has some tight turns between the ledges. The section called Big Drop is a narrow shelfy series of side-hilling and switchbacks. It side-hills along the mesa on a narrow trail, with a tight switchback on the edge. The crux is a rocky off-camber section after the switchback. It's uneven layers of slab rock ledges, but you can kind of roll down the slope and flow through it, so it's still an intermediate obstacle. It does have a bit of exposure and is steep, but not big blunt ledges. After the crux, it continues on a cool ridgeline. There are more easy rock ledges downhill, then it turns into a flatter trail with sand and whoops. There are frequent trail markers throughout this route, and a bailout about halfway through that will take you to Rainbow Terrace. The trail ends on Rainbow Terrace Road after going through a wider wash.
