Trail Overview

This route will lead you from the Canyon Creek Campground to the Soda Peaks Trailhead or vice versa. A deep forest route sometimes becomes narrow with plenty of overgrowth. Pin-striping is possible on this trail. The trail has many mud ruts and washouts that can put you at slight off-camber angles. You may encounter down trees and limbs on this trail. The trail also suffers from erosion in certain areas. There are areas for passing and a few spots that could be used for dispersed camping along the trail. A few areas open up and offer excellent views of the surrounding mountains.

Highly recommend this trail. The views, amazing. The ambiance, amazing. The trail, whelp, it’s just about the funnest thing that you can do with your pants on. As soon as you hit the rough asphalt, air down. There are pretty good potholes and mud pits all the way to a fallen tree. We had to unload our roof rack to drive under it, no biggie. Once we got all strapped back up (giggity), we drove until we hit sunk in rocks. Easy peasy lemon squeezie. If you hit the line right, you’ll get some flex, and your tires will wrap the rocks. If you’re vanilla, just stay in the senior line, I guess. The next obstacle was a washed out part, with about a 70’ shear drop. It is just wide enough for the FJ, but I wouldn’t recommend anything wider. Any wider and your review of this trail will differ greatly from mine. The last major obstacle was another washed out section with about a 6-8’ drop at about 60 degrees of angle. It levels off for about 10’, then incline at 60ish degrees for about 6’.
