Trail Overview
Steptoe Canyon Road is a point-to-point gravel road that climbs from the banks of the Snake River up to the Palouse plateau. The road is lined with private property on both sides, so please be respectful when on this trail. There are lots of blind corners as well, so be sure to stay to the right. The trail is a well-maintained gravel road with only a tiny amount of washerboard. Steptoe Canyon stays two lanes wide for most of its length. This trail is best used as an alternative route, either going down to the multiple river access points along the Snake or as an off-highway alternative to the Lewiston grade.
