Trail Overview
The East Lake Loop consists of Forest Service Roads 9717, 9105, and 9107. This loop is an easy, fun off-road trail for beginners who are looking to get out in the woods and get some 2-track seat time. This loop is located near East Lake and the Woodland Park area, thus making this route easily accessible. This trail is very easy with nothing technical. Most of the trail is a combination of sand and dirt and weaves through a beautiful forest with great fall foliage. Some sections aren't traveled very often and can get a bit tight with tree branches overhanging the trail. Use caution if you're looking to avoid pinstripes. This trail also branches off to NFS 9105 and 9107. NFS 9105 gives access to the North Country Hiking Trail. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause mud/water holes that can get rutted out quickly. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle. There are a couple of dispersed campsites right off this trail. Enjoy this loop in all of its delicacy.
