Trail Overview

This is a well-maintained packed dirt and gravel road which takes you to the Old Ward Canyon camping and target practice site. The route starts at the Skyline Drive trailhead below the bountiful "B" on the hillside. There are several pull-offs along the way which give great views of Salt Lake and Antelope Island, especially during sunset. In the Winter/Spring, there is a gate past this parking lot that is closed to vehicles.

Difficulty

This is a very easy trail. It is mostly 2 cars wide the entire way up. There are several blind turns - be careful of vehicles coming the opposite direction.

Pretty easy going but I’d avoid taking any low-clearance vehicle as there were some dips that got pretty deep. My stock 4Runner handled them no problem & there were lots of people in SXSs. There are some offshoots from the main dirt road that offer opportunities for beginners to push their comfort zone a little bit. Plenty of room for 2 vehicles. Great views from the overlook. People do commonly shoot guns up here, so don’t be alarmed to see that on your drive. Road was patrolled by Sheriffs on quads.

Super easy trail, 2 tacomas and an FJ Cruiser made it up very easily with no issues. There are a few spots where the road is bumpy and has some washed out parts that require going slow on but otherwise it was a scenic dirt road.

A few sections with small washes from rain and snow melt. Makes the ride a little bumpy but no real obstacles to deal with. Nice scenic drive.

Access Description

The trail starts near the white Bountiful "B" on the hillside above Bountiful. There is a parking lot here that gets pretty busy on weekends with SXS, quads, and dirt bikes.
