Trail Overview
In the late 19th century, cattle were driven from Texas ranches to railheads in Kansas via the historical Chisholm Trail. On this route you will pass the Chisholm Trail Museum, cross the Brazos River within 8 miles of where the cattle and cowboys crossed before the lake was built. Along the trail there are multiple Chisholm Trail ruins and historical markers. This route can offer water crossings during the spring, along with multiple camping locations that range from private ranch fields to state park accommodations.
