Trail Overview
The Old Clark Mine is located roughly 2.5 miles south of Copper Harbor on the Keweenaw Peninsula in the U.P. Michigan. There are very few remnants left from the mine which closed in 1901, however, the dirt and gravel trails throughout are enjoyable since they are surrounded by thick forests. This trail is easy but you should be mindful of the water crossings and make sure they aren't too deep for your vehicle. The crossings have a solid bottom. There are several short spur trails along this route that dead-end with a clearing.

Difficulty
There are 2 water crossings, the first being about a foot deep in a low swampy area near the start of the trail, the other being 8 inches deep and comes and goes depending on rain.
History
The Clark Mine was incorporated on December 19th, 1853, and worked until its closing in 1901. There were several adits and 8 shafts, the deepest shaft being 300 feet deep. Copper and manganese ore were the primary minerals mined here, but there are traces of many others scattered about.
