Trail Overview
This is an easy trail across some open meadows on NM State Land. Unfortunately, despite maps of the trail showing National Forest access, the trail currently dead ends at a gate preventing access to FSR 50A to the North. Just before the gate, there is a fork in the road. Note that the route to the left is open until arriving at the gate, but the route to the right is not open to the public. While accessible to park rangers, the trail cannot be navigated beyond the gate shown on the track. Before the gate, the trail features wide NM meadows nestled gently into the foothills of the Sangre De Christo Mountains. There are several old CCC projects along the trail which make for some curious landmarks. Please obey posted signs from NM fish and wildlife, as some sections on either side of the trail have intermittent access due to ongoing conservation efforts.
