Trail Overview
This trail starts at the sign that splits Jackhammer and Sledgehammer. You start by going into the canyon on sand and the trail starts to get harder as you head up. The trail has one main obstacle of plaque rock. When you get to the plaque rock, you will see the sign for Sledgehammer and a rock with a lot of broken parts. This rock is a big step and some people stack lots of rocks here to get up. Once you are up, you still have a few more things to deal with; however, this is the main deal. When you get to the top, you will be at the Mailbox. From the Mailbox, you can head right and take dirt roads back to camp, or head left towards the top of Jack and some other trails.

Difficulty
The plaque rock is usually undercut with about a 3-foot shelf. Once you are up, there is an off-camber squeeze that eats driveshafts as you try to get past. The main rock in the middle is constantly moving and always keeps it interesting.
