Trail Overview
Bring your camera and visit Chasm Falls. Drive above the timberline on winding switchbacks, then visit Estes Park where you can get up close to elk (not too close), shop and have a great meal. A fee is required to enter the park. This road is open July 4 and closes with the first heavy snowfall. No unlicensed vehicles.

Solid hard-packed trail with a few rutted switchbacks, but nothing technical or overly challenging. Caught a mid-afternoon hailstorm that made conditions slightly more treacherous, but a several following 2wd vehicles made it without any problems. Great alternative route up to the Alpine Visitor center with amazing views. Worth stopping off at Chasm Falls on the way up.

Was a nice single lane drive up to the alpine visitors center. This trail is one way. From the bottom up. Plenty of pull offs with a view. Seen some marmots and an elk herd toward the top.
