Trail Overview
Alamo Mountain Loop is a great escape from the crowds and heat of summer. At over 7,000 feet, this easy forest drive runs parallel to Hungry Valley State Recreation area. Camping is available, as well as options for hiking in Sespe Wilderness. Green-sticker vehicles are allowed when the pavement ends at mile 8.

Easy: Two-wheel drive adequate for loop portion of route when dry. More steep and narrow approaching Sewart Mountain on Forest Road 6N10.
History
Fire damage on this trail is the result of the Day Fire in 2006. The ninth largest fire in California history burned 162,700 acres. It started on Labor Day, September 4, and wasn't contained until October 13. The fire cost over $70 million and involved 4,600 fire fighters.
