Trail Overview
Brown Creek winds you through the forest with beautiful views, lots of creek crossings, and campsites. This trail will also lead you to the Ouachita National Recreation trail which is a 223-mile trail, there are two entrance points along this route to access this trail. This route could be a basecamp if you are planning on hiking that Ouachita NRT. Brown Creek Tail Shelter can be accessed off the first NRT crossing on the east end of this route. Please note that there is cotton mouth, rattlesnakes, and scorpions. Be extra cautious during the summer months next to water sources as that is where the cottonmouth snakes like to hang out at. Ticks and mosquitos are also prevalent during the summer months. Lots of pine trees and shade for the summer months. Fall is probably one of the most scenic times of year to explore this national forest.
