Trail Overview

This is an intermediate Jeep trail off of Table Mesa Road that goes up a wash with several rock-ledge obstacles. There's a staging area directly across from the start of the trail, but the entrance to the trail is unmarked. Right away, the wash has lots of embedded slabs of rock but starts pretty flat. The first obstacle goes down a couple-foot-high ledge that's pretty narrow between bushes, but there's an easy bypass around this one. There are more slab rock layers in the wash with 1-foot ledges down. Then it gets more difficult with rock ledges in the wash that are jagged and off-camber, and one-lined since it's in a narrow wash. The jagged layers of slab create several-foot-high ledges. There are lots of loose boulders in the wash and unmarked intersections as well. After several obstacle sections, the wash flattens out, and it continues as an easy trail that is scenic with tall rock walls. It ends in the wash at a big pile of rubble against the property line with the cement company. It doesn't connect back to Table Mesa Road, so this has to be done as an out-and-back.

Access Description

The OHV Area off of Table Mesa Road is a popular destination for UTVs, ATVs, dirt bikes, and rock crawlers, and can get pretty busy on weekends. Trails range from easy to extreme. There's an extensive amount of dispersed camping available along Table Mesa Road and at the beginning of the North Little Grand Canyon. Note that this area is extremely popular for target shooting, as people set up in the natural "bays" between the hills, but these bays are sometimes uncomfortably close to the trails. Be aware of this, expect to hear target shooting throughout the day (and into the night), and please shoot responsibly. Always know your backdrop.
