Trail Overview

Independence Creek is a fun 3.3-mile single track in the Hahn's Peak trail system north of Steamboat, Colorado. A lot of this trail is rocky and rooty, with small downhills (or climbs) in a shaded forest of pine and aspen trees. The rocks and roots create little shelf ledges that are not too difficult. This trail has more moisture in the shade, so it's less dusty than some of the surrounding ATV trails and single tracks. The east end is pretty wide in the aspen trees, but it gets narrower as it continues east and goes through several meadows with some very tight curves. There's one small and easy creek crossing. Overall the trail is pretty fast and flowy and one of the easier trails in this trail system. The east end is accessed from the Elkhorn ATV trail, and it ends on the west end of County Road 129.
